1st Pehlivanian International Conducting Competition

7-9 November 2026

Magdalena Pawlisz is invited to the Preliminary Round of the 1st Pehlivanian International Conducting Competition, after her live audition in one of 15 major capitals of the World.

The Preliminary Round Bled will be held at the Festival Hall of Bled (Slovenia) adjudicated by a Special Jury of five international conductors:

Christopher Chen, International Conductor, CHAIR
Ibrahim Yazici, Music Director, Istanbul State Opera and Ballet
Hossein Pishkar, International Conductor
Rodolfo Barráez, Associate Conductor, Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela
George Pehlivanian, International Conductor

All PRB candidates will conduct with two pianos and two official PICC pianists in the following repertoire:

Béla Bartók, Concerto for Orchestra, 4th Movement, “Intermezzo interrotto” (Allegretto)
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 6 “Pathétique”, 1st Movement (Adagio, Allegro non troppo)

Alongside the PRB, there will be a three-day Sustainable Career Development Conference at the Festival Hall of Bled, from 7 to 9 November 2026.

The Conference brings together over 30 leading professionals from orchestras, artist agencies, festivals, conservatoires, and the cultural policy and legal sectors. Over three days they will speak about the career of the classical musician: how the profession works today, how artists build and sustain a career, and where the field is heading. All sessions will also be livestreamed worldwide on the official PICC YouTube channel.
